Welcome to College Already!
|
If you are a parent or student who can't believe you're already thinking of college.....Welcome to "College Already?"
If you are ready and excited about navigating the college search process.....Welcome to "College Already!" No matter which welcome describes you better, or whether both may pertain to you, we want you to use our site so you will become "College All Ready". I am a school counselor who has over 20 years of experience in the field of education from grades 6 through 12 as both initially a teacher and the majority as a high school counselor. Most of my experience as of late has been in the area of the college selection process. From this, I have learned many tricks of the trade that I would like to share with you. The lens at which I help families is the lens that I use as a budget-minded father of five children, whose oldest child is in the middle of the college search process. Unfortunately, I have seen many organizations charging large amounts of money to help families with the college search process. I have created this site to help you navigate the process on your own for little or no money. Yes, you can do this on your own. It will take some time, but if you start early enough, you can find success. I believe that the student should take a lead role in this process with guidance and help from his/her parents, school counselors, and others who can be of assistance. My goal of this site is to provide you with knowledge and lead you to trusted sites with valuable information. A message to students and parents as you navigate this site: Students: Show your parents that you have a genuine interest in your future, and take the lead role when doing your research and contacting those individuals on the college side. Parents: Support your child through the process, but be sure not to do all of the work for them. If your child shows very little or no interest in their education after high school, do you really want to spend $20 to $70 thousand dollars a year to send your child to a four year university as a freshman? |
