Set some specific UNINTERRUPTED time aside during junior year to sit and discuss college!  

If you can find a location as nice as the one above, go for it.  If not, find some neutral ground where both the parent and student feel comfortable discussing the ins and outs of college and paying for this large investment.

Discuss the types of colleges, costs, location, types, and who is going to pay the bills.  Remember, compromise may be in order from both parent and student perspectives.

Agree to put away your phones and simply discuss these specific topics.

Set follow up times junior and senior year to have similar meetings.
