Whether the college you are thinking about is in a city as large as the one above or whether it is in the middle of a rural area, you should plan to visit to see if it is the right fit for you.
I suggest that you do informal visits as early as freshmen year. By this, I mean, that if you are on vacation or taking a road trip, plan to drive through or briefly walk through a campus. Early visits should be to simply get students familiar with college campuses and give them a feel for a large campus versus a small campus as well as an urban campus versus a rural campus. Early, informal visits allow students to get a better idea as to the colleges they may want to visit more formally junior and senior year.
Below, you will find two helpful links. A guide to taking a college visit and a comparison sheet that you can print and take with you.
Enjoy your visit!
